What stopped us was the Writhing Wraith series, charcoal figures that emerge and dissolve at the same time. The marks are urgent, layered, restless — bodies that suggest themselves without fully arriving. You think you can make out a gesture, a story. Then you look again and aren't quite sure.

The marks stay open on purpose, asking you to bring something of your own, and to keep coming back.

London-based and multidisciplinary artist Cardoso works across painting, ceramics, and sound. Her work is already held in the Royal Collection and Soho House Manchester. She is the kind of artist worth finding early, and worth talking to.
